Based on your requirements and your budget, you can choose from Shopify packages that range from $29 to $299 per month. Pros: You can integrate Shopify directly with your Facebook account and make it an ecommerce store FOR FREE (or $9 if non-Shopify store). It has premium themes and 24/7 support, a large app marketplace, great payment options, Shopify experts that can help build your website for a fee, and automatically upsells customers after they made a purchase. Cons: There’s an additional transaction fee you’ll be liable to pay if you don’t use Shopify Payment. Additionally, plenty of useful and practical extensions require additional investment.
Wix allows you to drag and drop content anywhere on your website. This makes Wix a very versatile ecommerce platform for smaller, more independent businesses. Creating a website on Wix is free, but to accept online payments and sell, it can cost $20 to $35 per month. Pros: Simplifies the whole process of building an online store, can choose from over 500 stylish templates, and easy-to-use editor. Cons: Too simple, best if you’re selling less than 50 items, and app options aren’t as all-encompassing as Shopify’s marketplace.
BigCommerce is one of the best ecommerce websites for large, growing businesses. The bigger you get, the more tools it makes available to you. It does this through its pricing structure, which automatically upgrades you to a more advanced plan if you hit a certain sales threshold. Pros: Provides more helpful and practical tools than its competitors, promotes campaigns, handles returns, accepts various payment methods, and configures your tax and shipping. Cons: Not as easy to use as Wix, second largest app marketplace compared to Shopify, doesn’t offer as great of templates like Shopify and Wix, and is the most expensive next to Shopify with plans from $29.95 to $249.95 per month.
Squarespace is best known for helping users create beautiful, image-rich websites. You’re the perfect fit if you plan on selling items that rely on high-quality visuals.To build an online store on Squarespace, you will need to be on Squarespace’s Business Plan for $18 to $40 per month. Pros: One of the best ecommerce websites for stylish templates, much cheaper option than Shopify and BigCommerce, can upload unlimited products, and can configure your inventory, shipping options, costs, sales taxes, coupons, and customer email list. Cons: Ecommerce tools are not as comprehensive as Shopify’s, does not integrate with Paypal Pro, and is less sophisticated for ecommerce needs.
WooCommerce is an ecommerce platform offering a cart solution as a plugin to WordPress. It comes along with a secure payment gateway and a shopping cart that both work really well. However, WooCommerce needs an additional plugin to start a multi-vendor ecommerce store. Pros: It’s free, open source and easy to use for WordPress users, most customizable, great if you want to stick to WordPress websites and don’t anticipate having a large, high-volume store, can add unlimited products and users, take unlimited orders, and upsell other products. Cons: Integrating the shopping cart completely with the system requires additional investment, you also have to know WordPress to know how to use WooCommerce, starts slowing down when your business grows with products, sellers, and customers.
#6 BIG CARTEL
Big Cartel is a platform dedicated to helping artists, makers, and small brands open a store and start making a living doing what they love. You can start for free with 5 products, or pay $9.99 to $29.99 per month depending on the number of items you have to sell. Pros: Small, tight-knit team which is focused on making Big Cartel empowering and easy to use, has integration to Facebook, Squarespace, and WordPress. Cons: Isn’t as clean and smooth with layout as Shopify, biggest price point only allows you 300 products, has very little integrations and features compared to competitors.
